US fighter jets scrambled to intercept at least five Russian warplanes over Alaska

Nine U.S. combatant jets person been scrambled to intercept 5 Russian warplanes spotted complete Alaska.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command, based astatine Peterson Space Force Base successful Colorado, said it had detected and tracked 2 Tu-95s, 2 Su-35s, and 1 A-50 crossing nan Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone connected Thursday.

NORAD said it had responded by launching 2 F-16s, 2 F-35s, 1 E-3, and 4 KC-135s to intercept nan planes, positively place them, and escort them retired of nan ADIZ.
